Both men were identified members of the Plainfield Locos Salvatrucha (PLS) gang, a New Jersey branch of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) transnational gang. Gomez was a known member of the MS-13 gang from Honduras and entered the USA illegally, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said. The two are alleged to have killed Matute on the orders of MS-13 leaders after Matute was thought to have socialised with another gang. (more...)
