Thursday. Shelby resigned from the Tulsa Police Department after she was acquitted by a jury in May in connection with the shooting death of 40-year-old Terence Crutcher in 2016. Shelby was on patrol September 16, 2016, when she shot Crutcher as he stood near his SUV in the middle of a Tulsa street. The officer's vest abosrbed a shot to the chest, a law enforcement source said. The man is believed to be emotionally disturbed and suicidal, according to the NYPD spokeswoman.
