A spokesman for the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) confirmed that it had received instructions from Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas "regarding closing down all communication lines with the Americans". On Sunday, Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit reached out to Washington, apparently arguing the punitive move by the Americans would have a detrimental effect on efforts to jump-start the Israeli-Palestinian peace track. Laughlin AFB officials say emergency personnel and first responders were on scene, but no information was provided about the surviving pilot's injuries. An airman has been killed and another injured after an Air Force training jet crashed near Amistad Reservoir on the Texas-Mexico border. There were two fatal crashes with four fatalities involving the Northrup T-38 Talon two-seat advanced supersonic trainer in 2008 at different USAF bases ... (more...)

Reports said a TSR trooper shot dead Sudip Datta Bhowmik from point-blank range just outside the office of Commandant Tapan Debbarma at around 11.30 a.m. Surprisingly, the journalist was taken to GB Pant Hospital here at around 2.30 p.m where doctors declared him brought dead.
