Overall violent crime was up 4.1% previous year, while murder increased by 8.6%, according to statistics on national crime released by the agency on Monday. Of the violent crimes reported to police in 2016, aggravated assault made up 64.3 percent, while robbery was 26.6 percent. Full crime data is not yet available for 2017, but for some cities like Chicago, homicide rates appear to be falling. (more...)

While the u.s. supreme court must decide in October on the merits of this controversial measure of Donald Trump , the order of migration has been extended and "upgraded" on Sunday, adding the North Korea , Venezuela and Chad to the list of countries referred to from the 18 October.
