As well as the US, South Korea and Japan , plus permanent Security Council members France and Britain, have called for stronger measures against it, with several arguing for a potentially crippling oil embargo. The United States plans to put its draft to a vote on Monday. The most recent measures, imposed last month following Pyongyang's July firing of two intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) that apparently brought much of the USA mainland into range, zeroed in on the economy. The gun was undergoing field firing at the Pokhran ranges on September 2 when the accident took place, an Army insider said. Besides India, the M-777 gun is used by the US, Australia and Canada. Any measure needs at least nine out of 15 votes on the Council to be adopted, and no vetoes. The news comes as the UN Security Council ratified new sanctions against North Korea after its sixth nuclear test since 2006.
