The observance, along with another at Ground Zero in NY, was held at 8:46 am (local time), the moment the World Trade Center in Manhattan was struck by the first of two hijacked airliners. When the short ceremony was over, the first couple turned around and walked back inside the White House, hand in hand. The fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. (more...)

The storm will travel north through the Peninsula on Sunday, heading into Georgia and Tennessee Monday into Wednesday . The center will track to our west. An worldwide furore over a TV advertisement for Australian lamb has reached the highest levels of government, with the Indian High Commission lodging an official diplomatic complaint over the "offensive" ad depicting Hindu god Ganesha. Though these and other similar acts by some Muslim countries that could be described as humanitarian kindness towards the fleeing Rohingya Muslims are laudable, yet they never reflect real commitment to end the suffering of the Rohingyas in Myanmar . As the storm intensifies and moves toward Florida, National Weather Service offices in the Midwest, like in International Falls, have been launching twice as many weather balloons as normal. Weather systems now in the central United States, which are being observed by the extra weather-balloon launches, will move east, eventually interacting with Hurricane Irma after it reaches USA soil, the Valley office said.
