A year ago, the state average was $2.33. AAA said the average in New Jersey is up nine cents compared to Thursday and is up 18 cents compared to just last week. "Let's hope it's short term". The surges are in response to the flooding caused in Texas by Harvey. Hurricane Harvey has been wreaking havoc and destruction since it made landfall on the Texas coast late last week. (more...)

During a closed door meeting on Tuesday, Russia and China again argued that sanctions would not resolve the crisis over North Korea's missile and nuclear tests, and that talks were needed, a council diplomat said. Bass said one in five crashes in the state is caused by distracted driving. This Labor Day weekend law enforcement may be looking for more than just drunk drivers.
