Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell while talking to a group at the Louisville Chamber of Commerce has dismissed one of President Donald Trump's most-repeated claims by saying, " most news is not fake". The Treasury secretary has called for a "clean" debt-ceiling increase, meaning lawmakers would not attach spending cuts or other provisions to it. If the debt ceiling isn't raised to allow new borrowing, the US could default on its debt or miss payments of benefits and salaries. (more...)

The terrorists, wearing camouflage uniforms, reportedly swooped down on Barangay Tubigan in the municipality of Maluso in Basilan and went on a shooting rampage at around 5:30 a.m. Nine bombs and bomb materials were recovered by troops, it said. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
