Mattis stressed that the USA will first take steps to put diplomatic and economic pressure on the North to realize the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, and reaffirmed that Washington will closely consult Seoul on all the steps. "A dialogue between South and North Korea must resume". The Powerball jackpot grew to an estimated $432 million, just in time for Wednesday night's drawing. No victor was announced as of midnight Thursday. It is the largest Mega Million prize in IL lottery history. The estimated cash value was $273.4 million. Last week's Mega Millions jackpot had also reached a sizable pot of $393 million. The odds of winning a jackpot are extremely low - one in 292.2 million for Powerball and one in 258.9 million for Mega Millions. (more...)

The U.N. Security Council unanimously passed a resolution on August 6 banning North Korea's exports of coal, iron, iron ore, lead, lead ore and seafood, in a bid to choke off a third of Pyongyang's $3 billion annual export revenue. China is North Korea's most important customer in 2016, China imported $1.2 billion worth of coal from the country, and that figure will already be much lower this year. (more...)
