News Trends Today

Remember Christmas of 2008?  People were eagerly awaiting the new Playstations and Xbox 360.  But a new game system, Nintendo’s Wii, snuck in and captured the hearts of lots of gamers.  It looks like it will be another big seller this Christmas.

The best thing about the Wii Christmas Gift is the interactive sports games.  It gets kids and grown ups alike up off the couch and burning some calories while playing golf, bowling, tennis, or other sports.  Who knows?  This could help the obesity problem facing the United States.

Of course, it’s also fun to compete with another player.  Can you imagine Uncle George getting his butt kicked by his nephew?  Maybe grandma will try and play a game of tennis.  A lot of parents like the Wii because many of the games don’t have violence or killing and are geared to more family fun.

Shopping the Internet, the going price seems to hover at around  $199.99 at such places as Target and Walmart.  If you want to try and get it cheaper, you may want to Google Wii and search some of the bidding sites like Ebay and Nextag.

Walmart has a Wii bundle that includes the games Nerf Strike and Four Elite, a $39.95 value.  It also includes Hasbro Family Game Night 2.  There are five popular games included: Operation, Jenga, Bop-It, Picture and Connect 4×4. The games offer an original mode ala the boards games, but they will also have an advanced mode which includes the new “Hasbro Family Game Show.”  With this mode, players will feel that they are in a real game show studio, complete with an audience and a chance to win virtual prizes.  It also allows players to customize the game by picking new themes and new trophies.

Target is offering electronic trade ins.  Bring in your old games, and they will give you gift cards.  Not bad.

If money is a problem, at a site called Afford it, a buyer may put down $59.00 and then pay $16 a week.  Going into debt is usually not a good idea, but in these hard times, it might make it possible for parents to have a chance not to disappoint the children.

The Wii system is quiet, has great graphics, and a huge selection of games to suit all kinds of players.  Girls will find many games created with them in mind for a change.  When the console isn’t being used to play games, people can surf the web with its wifi connection, and even send messages to friends.

For the best Christmas bargains and Wii Bundles you should check online at Amazon.com, Ebay.com and BestBuy.com – they are likely to have deeper Christmas discounts than stores.
