China Prepares Mission to Land Spacecraft on Moon's Far Side

Sources including journalist Andrew Jones, who covers China's space program, report that the launch is now set for around 1:20 p.m. ET Friday from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in southwest China using a Long March 3B rocket. The spacecraft will be carrying a lander and a rover, that is said to touch down the surface on the lunar surface. For example, the LFS will return data about surface composition, while the LPR will tease out the layered structure of the moon's subsurface. (more...)

On Monday, the ESA shared the image in a blog post, which is an artificial Proba-2 view of the solar north pole. On the same principle worked for all the pictures that made the machine during the rotation of the star. The scientists from the ESA has been working to the image you can see at the beginning of this article since June of this year and introduced it to a database to acknowledge how the poles of the Sun change in time. The private company expects to start launching station crews next year. A SpaceX Falcon 9 makes a splashdown after having problems approaching its planned landing zone. Remarkably, it seems SpaceX may still be able to recover the rocket. The OSIRIS-Rex mission blasted off from Florida in September 2016. On Tuesday, the spacecraft will fly within 5 miles of Bennu, which will help design future orbits and map the surface. The spacecraft will collect samples from the space rock which could pave the way for an asteroid mining industry, with some of them worth trillions of dollars due to their minerals which are scarce on Earth such as platinum.
