ALMA snaps most detailed view of monster starburst galaxy ever ALMA snaps most detailed view of monster starburst galaxy ever
- September 01, 2018

Starburst galaxies , sometimes called monster galaxies, typically form stars at a pace some 100 times faster than in our own Milky Way galaxy . These dense clouds are dynamically unstable and thought to be the sites of intense star formation. Normally, these two forces are balanced in the gas clouds until gravity eventually overpowers the pressure and it collapses, giving way to the rapid formation of stars . (more...)
