House Committee Has New Framework For Even More Tax Reforms House Committee Has New Framework For Even More Tax Reforms
- July 27, 2018

House Republicans plan three pieces of legislation covering permanence, savings, and business in hopes of reaping success in the Senate . Democrats need to gain 23 seats in November's midterms to capture House control, which is widely seen as doable, so both sides are producing measures that may go nowhere but can shore up political weak spots or embarrass the other party. More information on this subject can be found in the research paper titled " Detection of the Gravitational Redshift in the Orbit of the Star S2 near the Galactic Centre Massive Black Hole ", by the GRAVITY Collaboration. The team used the Sinfoni instrument to measure the velocity of S2 relative to Earth. In connection with what is known as interferometry, in which the light of several telescopes is merged and overlaid, Gravity creates extremely sharp images. (more...)
Large Liquid Water Lake Just Discovered Beneath the Surface of Mars Large Liquid Water Lake Just Discovered Beneath the Surface of Mars
- July 26, 2018

But some time in the past - probably about 3.8 billion years ago - it lost its atmosphere, stripped away by radiation and solar wind from the sun. "The presence of a body of liquid water beneath Mars's south polar cap has various implications, opening new possibilities for the existence of microorganisms in the Martian environment", says Sebastian Lauro, a study co-author based at Roma Tre University in Rome. Red Planet comes closer to Earth than since 2003 and Neanderthal Age Red Planet comes closer to Earth than since 2003 and Neanderthal Age
- July 26, 2018

Mars Close Approach takes place about every 26 months, but since Earth and Mars don't have perfectly circular orbits, the shortest distance between the planets isn't always the same for each close approach. Nasa has said that there is now a dust storm which is affecting the whole planet, so this may make seeing details on Mars a little more hard for astronomers. (more...)

Scientists discover underground lake on Mars Scientists discover underground lake on Mars
- July 26, 2018

This finding makes it more likely that there will be "not just extinct life but extant life", he says. It was home to plenty of liquid water and lakes at least 3.6 billion years ago. Orosei suspects that salts, especially the perchlorates that have been found in the planet's soils, could be lowering the ice's melting point. Between 2012 and 2015, the spacecraft confirmed the existence of the bright reflections during 29 passes over the south polar region. (more...)
Lake of liquid water discovered on Mars, raising potential for life
- July 26, 2018

There had been some signs of liquid water now on Mars, including disputed evidence of water activity on Martian slopes, but not stable bodies of water. To be clear, there's no sign of any actual Martian microbes swimming around, and the environment is not obviously hospitable - the water at the base of the polar cap is estimated to be minus-90 degrees F, far below the typical freezing point of water. World's largest dinosaur footprint was left by a monster dubbed 'Bigfoot'
- July 26, 2018

The 150-million-year-old foot belonged to a brachiosaur, a member of the group of long-necked vegetable-eaters known as sauropods . The foot is almost a meter wide, leading researchers to fondly nickname the specimen "Bigfoot". The findings confirmed that 150 million years ago brachiosaurs - featured in the movie Jurassic Park - lived across a huge swathe of North America. (more...)
Italian Space Agency says it’s found evidence of water on Mars
- July 26, 2018

The results appear today in the journal Science . The lake was discovered on the south polar ice cap of Mars and is covered in a sheet of ice, the thickness of which is yet to be determined. "On Mars, that's much more hard, of course, because we can't really drill into the ice". This, however, is the best evidence to date of an environment on Mars that could be friendly to known forms of life - these "extremophile" bacteria - right now. (more...)

- July 26, 2018

Mars will still be more visible than normal for a while, but will become fainter as it travels farther from Earth during the planets' orbits around the sun. The over 600-mile-long (1,000-kilometer) Medusae Fossae Formation near Mars' equator traces its origins to long-ago volcanic activity . The good news about all the Martian dust is that it reflects sunlight, which makes for an even brighter red planet, said Widener University astronomer Harry Augensen. (more...)
