It appears nearly as if it is a lagoon surrounded by ripples of gray sand. Researchers have conducted a study examining the validity of Einstein's theory of general relativity on a galactic scale. The image was taken by NASA's Juno spacecraft on May 23 during its 13th close flyby of the planet. Citizen scientists Gerald Eichstädt and Seán Doran created this image using data from the spacecraft's JunoCam imager. Bright clouds, most likely composed of ammonia or ammonia and water in combination with unknown chemical elements. What the image represents is a chaotic and turbulent mix, but this is due to the clouds formations which are swirling over the surface of Jupiter. (more...)
