On Tuesday, the World Health Organization added " gaming disorder " to its list of recognised and diagnosable diseases, as part of its 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases . "The studies suggest that when these individuals are engrossed in Internet games, certain pathways in their brains are triggered in the same direct and intense way that a drug addict's brain is affected by a particular substance", the association said in a 2013 statement . Heavy doses of vitamin D can be toxic. Amazingly, researchers found that the women with 25 (OH) D concentrations greater than 60 ng/ml had just one-fifth the breast cancer risks of the women who had 20 ng/ml of 25 (OH) D or less. Compared to participants with circulating vitamin D concentrations considered sufficient for bone health, those with a vitamin D deficiency had a 31 percent higher risk of colorectal cancer during follow-up five years later. In May 2019, ICD-11 will be presented at the World Health Assembly for adoption by member states and be effective in January 2022. The WHO's expert on mental health and substance abuse, Shekhar Saxena, said some of the worst cases seen in global research were of gamers playing for up to 20 hours a day, forgoing sleep, meals, work or school and other daily activities.
