A study released on Thursday, June 7, by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention found that suicide rates rose in 49 states between 1999 and 2016, with a total of almost 45,000 suicides in 2016. No deaths have been reported from the bacterial infections, but 31 people have been hospitalized. North Carolina has had the most reported cases with 17, followed by Louisiana with 8 and 7 in Michigan, Minnesota and Oklahoma. Illnesses starts on dates ranging from April 30 to May 28. Most people infected with salmonella develop diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps around 12 to 72 hours after being exposed to the bacteria, health experts said. (more...)
