Shoppers at standstill as Target addresses issues with checkout system

Customers took to social media to post photos of long lines, saying cash registers were not functioning properly. In a statement to CBS News, the company said, "We're aware that guests are now unable to make purchases at Target stores". Target operates more than 1,800 stores in 49 states, which employ more than 300,000 people, according to the company's corporate website. According to a report in The Wall Street Journal (paywall), and The New York Times , the Chinese giant sent a letter to Verizon back in March this year, asking the company to pay licensing fees for networking equipment it uses, and accused the company of infringing on over 238 of its patents. There's also a possibility the Mate X delay is related to the recent restrictions the USA placed on Huawei , which Huawei recently confirmed had lead to the cancelation of an upcoming MateBook release. Which would, of course, present a whole new series of concerns. Corn dropped 2% and soybeans dipped 0.6%. Dealers were waiting for the release later on Monday of the USA weekly crop progress report , with corn planting seen around 80 to 85 percent complete compared with 67 percent a week earlier. However, some traders said the cuts will likely be too small to reflect the full impact of late planting.
