While Dena Bank has been placed under the prompt corrective action (PCA) framework by the Reserve Bank of India, with restrictions on lending, Vijaya Bank is among the only two lenders to have reported a profit in 2017-18. "We have chose to merge Dena Bank, Vijaya Bank and Bank of Baroda". "The Alternative Mechanism took the view that aspirations of the fastest growing economy have to be supported by stronger and globally competitive banks with increased choices to the stakeholders".
