For some of us who have been wanting to buy a flat screen TV all year long, now is the time because promos and mega discounts have been advertised for black Friday at many stores. But does the customer gain anything by standing in line at 2 am in the morning?
In general, the major brand names like Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, and Phillips all have similar HDTV prices, no matter where you go. It is only the lesser quality brand names which vary in prices from store to store. So if you are looking for a top brand HDTV, you will not miss out on anything if you do not get up 2 am. The major drop in prices is with the secondary or tertiary brand items. Some of these YVs have been discounted by 10%-20% and to buy one of these items you will need to show up at 2 am.
While most people think that black Friday specials are only available by going to a retail store, this is a fallacy. The same stores in fact have similar or bigger discounts for same items when buying online. So it is essential you check out online and compare the prices in the retail store. Both Amazon and Wal-Mart have many TVs online which in fact are much cheaper than by buying them from the retail store. To make shopping easier, many online stores are waiving shipping fees. There are also some online exclusive deals which are not available in retail locations.
Finally, while there are many retail Black Friday ads already circulated and can be seen by searching websites like bfads.net, blackfriday.info, theblackfriday.com, and gottadeal.com for all-inclusive listings of discounts. Some websites permit you to narrow the search by product categories, such as TVs, Radios, GPS, etc.
Here are some of the best deals on plasma TV sets.
42-inch Samsung plasma TV for $500 can be bought at Best Buy, Sears and Wal-Mart. If you do not mind a no name brand, then a similar size HDTV can be bought for even less. Sears has Zenith’s 720p Z42PO2 set for $500, and Wal-Mart is listing the Emerson’s 42-inch 720p plasma (PL-P42W-10A) for $448. There are some time restrictions on when these no brands can be bought.
50-inch Samsung plasma TV is priced at $700 at Best Buy and Sears. Wal-Mart also has a Sanyo’s 50-inch 720p plasma (DP50719) at $598.
There are countless such deals on TVs but as always Wal-Mart and Best Buy seem to offer the best prices on most items. So if you do not know where to go, check out these two places first. Wal-Mart and Best Buy appear to be make black Friday look like gold.
So Black Friday is coming–but not all that glitters is gold. While those who mine the long lists of post-Thanksgiving sale items will surely find some gems, prudent shoppers will be sure to do their homework and read the fine print–which, as usual, may serve up a few lumps of coal.
