Cardi B Responds to Jermaine Dupri's 'Strippers Rapping' Comments

Megan Thee Stallion Tierra Whack Kamaiyah

Cardi B had a few words for music producer Jermaine Dupri following his recent unflattering comments regarding women rappers.

During an appearance on PEOPLE Now, Dupri shares his opinion on female rappers in the industry, praising Da Brat for paving the way for others, but sharing he's unimpressed with the rapper's out there today. And in this case, rather than addressing the double standard that men talk about sex more or less nonstop in their raps, she instead pointed out the rationale behind why she and other women choose to rap "like strippers": Because evidently, that's what the people want.

When asked how he feels about Cardi, Nicki Minaj and rising star Meghan Thee Stallion, Dupri didn't appear to be impressed.

"It's like, if that's what people ain't trying to hear, then I'm going to start rapping about my p**sy again", Cardi said.

"I can't really say".

"There's a lot of female rappers who be rapping they ass off and don't be talking about their p-- and don't be talking about getting down on dirty and y'all don't be supporting them", she said in response.

"WE NEED TO SPREAD LOVE TO ALL THE FEMALE RAPPERS OUT THERE DOING THEIR F--N THING AND NOT LET PEOPLE WHO DONT GIVE A F-K ABOUT MUSIC DISCREDIT US WHEN THERES SO MUCH OUT THERE TO APPRECIATE AND SPREAD TO THE WORLD", she wrote.

"First of all, I rap about my p-y because she's my best friend", Cardi began. As far as rap goes, I'm not getting 'who is the best rapper.' I'm getting, like, you got a story about you dancing in the club, YOU got a story about you dancing in the club, you got a story... OK.

Cardi explained that she released a song, "Be Careful" that wasn't based on sex and her fans weren't here for it. Jermaine Dupri made it clear that he wasn't feeling any of the new female rappers out now and that statement causes an avalanche of backlash starting with Cardi B who unleashed her fury in an expletive-laced video on her IG page.

But Cardi, who has been pretty open about her past on the pole, took issue with the So So Def exec's shade. "So don't blame that on us when y'all not the ones who are supporting them", she barked. "Radio DJs play these girls", she said.
