FaceBook intends on acquiring developers, is working with Ubisoft on exclusives

Facebook Aims to Dethrone Sony With Ubisoft VR Exclusives

Keep quiet. Don't let anyone see you and, above all, complete the mission. The headsets already look a lot like Sam Fisher's ever present night vision goggles, so why not?

KitGuru Says: High quality VR games are starting to become more common each year.

That's not all though. I'm not sure if the company would be willing to take the risk of releasing the next mainline Assassin's Creed or Splinter Cell title exclusively in VR, but it's possible that they could have a secondary team work on a smaller title. The historical fiction action stealth game has sold tens of millions of copies in its decade-plus existence and goes to show that Facebook is becoming increasingly confident in its hardware to realistically deliver freedom of movement.

Despite Facebook's ambitions for gaming, all of it revolves around the Oculus VR platform instead of more traditional video game consoles like the PlayStation or Xbox. But if these VR games do come to fruition, don't expect to have a life-changing experience. Jason Rubin, who's the vice president of special gaming initiatives (and former head of content at Oculus and co-founder of Naughty Dog), is said to be leading the charge. This is where Splinter Cell comes in.

The Information stated on Facebook that Oculus has been trying to have more exclusive games available for their VR system. It's a brand that is quickly turning into a money-making division within the company and one that's poised to be around for decades to come. Facebook hopes that a deal like this will boost the adoption of VR headsets and more specifically, boost Oculus's standing in the market. CEO Mark Zuckerberg is personally overseeing the inclusion of new and exclusive titles for Oculus and the report states that a budget slightly less than $1 billion has been allocated.
