Wimbledon: Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal will meet in semifinals

Four-time champion Novak Djokovic reached the Wimbledon semi-finals for the ninth time on Wednesday with a 6-4, 6-0, 6-2 win over David Goffin of Belgium. The next two sets weren't almost as competitive as Nadal broke twice in each and converted his first match point with a forehand victor. And again serving for that set at 6-5, he erased a trio of break points for the 65th-ranked Querrey before holding - and Nadal was on his way. Though Nishikori managed to keep his serve in the long first game, Federer got the better of him in the seventh game and rode the break to a one-set advantage.

Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have played each other 39 times in the past.

He'll face Guido Pella or Roberto Bautista Agut in a semifinal matchup.

Yet the remainder of the match had just enough flourishes of pure brilliance from the eight times champion and number two seed to make it a worthy occasion for the Swiss to become the sole male member of the Grand Slam 100 club.

The duo have not met at the All England Club since their titanic tussle in the 2008 final, when Nadal outlasted Federer over five thrilling sets that finished late in the evening gloom.

Rafael Nadal made a jaw-dropping start to his quarter-final as he won all 12 points during his first three service games.

Stanley Kay: Grass is Federer's domain, and tactically he'll play aggressive by keeping points short and coming to the net.

In a ruthless display, Djokovic reeled off 15 of the last 17 games to secure a place in the semi-finals of the majors for the 36th time.

JL: I'm sticking with my original pick from the beginning of the tournament: Roger Federer.

The 31 year old no 23 seed revealed he had booked a break in Ibiza with pals this week for his bachelor bash - but that has had to be rapidly cancelled. Again serving for that set at 6-5, he erased a trio of break points for Querrey before holding - and finally was on his way.

Djokovic did to Goffin exactly what he does to so many men on so many surfaces and at so many tournaments: He takes their best shot, deals with it and then wears them down.

"But it was a good experience to play against such a strong opponent", he said of world No. 3 Federer, who claimed his 100th Wimbledon victory. "Most of the rallies went his way". The most recent match between these two players was last month at the French Open where Nadal won in straight sets.

We'll be watching the action unfold on the good old BBC however, as Djokovic takes on his opponent in the hallowed enclosure of Centre Court - the most middle court.

"(After) I got broken and I was fighting in that first set, I was able to protect my serve", he said.
