JAY-Z's Team ROC Providing Legal Aid To Arizona Family Terrorized By Police Over Dollar Store Doll (Video)

"It doesn't open, I promise it doesn't open", says another person, presumably Ames. "Why are the policemen still working?" There were 44 officer-involved shootings - the most in the country, and more than double the previous year.

After initially refusing to identify the cop involved, the Phoenix police later revealed his name as Christopher Meyer. One of the officers can be heard yelling "You're going to get f-king shot!"

When the officers yelled at Harper to get out of the auto, she told them, "I have two kids".

Phoenix Police Chief Jeri Williams released a video statement last Friday saying that she is "disturbed" by the actions and language of the officers.

"Every time I look a that video its extremely unsettling", Chief Williams said in an interview that aired Sunday on ABC15.

Authorities said the incident is under investigation.

The police chief has said an internal investigation into the officers is underway.

Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego on Saturday released a statement and said she was "sick" over the video. "I know our community is better than that".

She added: "We are all angry about this". They called for them to be fired.

The couple filed a $10 million lawsuit against the city last week alleging the officers committed battery, unlawful imprisonment, false arrest, inflicted of emotional distress, and violated their civil rights.

"I don't accept the apology", Aisha Harper said Monday, with Dravon Ames adding, "It's not honest", the Associated Press reports. "The family has described the apology as a sham and lacking all substance".

The episode unfolded on May 27, when Phoenix officers responded to a report of a shoplifting incident at a Family Dollar store.

"The Phoenix Police Department takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and for this reason, this incident is now being investigated by the Professional Standards Bureau", said authorities from the local police department.

The police intercepted the vehicle in an apartment complex and arrested Ames and Harper.

The report says that Harper was "loud" and "verbally abusive" and refused police commands.

Then, they berated, assaulted, and threatened to shoot them because their little girl took a doll out of the Family Dollar Store.

"We've been aware of apologies from the mayor and the chief and, honestly, it hasn't done anything to help us because it feels like a half apology".

Another woman traveling with the family was allegedly Harper's aunt.

The police said the store manager declined to prosecute and no one was charged for shoplifting. They say officers never turned on their lights or indicated they should pull over.

The family said Monday the police report is "full of lies". We're going to be looking at policy.
