Boy, 8, mauled by shark off North Carolina beach

It seems that with temperatures on the rise and more people swimming, shark attacks have started to seriously increase in frequency, particularly off the coast of North Carolina.

Dean Davis, whose family travels to Bald Head Island each summer from Kentucky, told the outlet he was shocked to hear what happened.

The boy is being treated for multiple puncture wounds, but he's expected to make a full recovery.

Paige Winter, seen in this undated photo, was attacked by a shark on June 2, 2019. While we don't know the boy's identity, we do know that he was bitten in the leg and was immediately rushed to hospital. Her wounds were significantly more serious: She lost almost the entirety of her left leg, and two fingers.
