Takefusa Kubo: Real Madrid sign Japanese teenager from FC Tokyo

FC Tokyo's Takefusa Kubo set to make Real Madrid move

"An attacking midfielder of excellent technique, very skilled, with vision of game, great dribble and goal".

The statement read: "Takefusa Kubo (04/06/2001, Kanagawa, Japan) will come in to strengthen the Castilla ranks next season".

Real Madrid have signed Japanese teenager Takefusa Kubo - describing him as "one of the most promising young players in the world".

According to Spanish sports newspaper Marca, Kubo has been offered a €1 million salary and a five-year contract, with Real Madrid to pay a €2 million transfer fee to the Tokyo club.

Federation Internationale de Football Association gave the Catalan giants a transfer embargo over signing foreign players under the age of 18 and the club had to let him go.

He has played 13 times for FC Tokyo in 2019, scoring four goals.

He had a loan spell at Yokohama F. Marinos back in 2018, opening his goalscoring account for the club with a strike on his debut. The former La Masia pupil, who was forced to leave after Federation Internationale de Football Association ruled his move to Spain as illegal, is now free to return to Europe because he's turned 18.

Kubo, who has been dubbed the "Japanese Messi", made his full global debut against El Salvador earlier this month and was also linked with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League champions Manchester City.

Belgian star Eden Hazard - signed from Chelsea in a deal that could be worth up to $165 million - was unveiled to 50,000 fans at the Bernabeu on Thursday, while Real have also signed defenders Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy for around €50 million each, as well as striker Luka Jovic for a reported €60 million.

Will Kuba end up being the next Messi or just another hyped up failure?
