Class mom arrested after confronting son's bullies in school

Mom Gets Arrested for Storming Into School and Confronting Her Child’s Bullies

A frustrated mom that stormed into an elementary school classroom to address the bullies of her third-grade son has been arrested on a charge of disturbing schools and released on a personal recognizance bond.

Greenville County Schools said she shouted at the children because she wasn't satisfied with how the school was handling her son being bullied.

Rathburn admitted in a now-deleted Facebook post that she "snuck into the school and confronted kids that she estimates to be 9 years old", the sheriff's report said, according to NBC News.

According to reports, the mum was angry after administrators at Greenbrier Elementary School in SC offered a solution to stop her son's alleged bullies by separating him from the rest of his class during break times.

Jamie Rathburn is in legal trouble after confronting her son's bullies.

Jamie Rathburn was arrested on May 20. "If they wanted to continue then I needed to talk to their mommas because the school wasn't doing anything". She was reportedly a "class mom" who would help out with school events, but is now no longer allowed on the grounds.

A teacher told deputies that Rathburn yelled about "not knowing who was bullying her son but that she was going to find them and their moms".

It was unclear whether her son's bullies were ever punished and the school wouldn't provide her with documentation of his situation, citing privacy concerns since the reports may involve other students, she said.

From there, it escalated.

Listen to Taylor Swift's new single 'You Need to Calm Down'
On Thursday, Taylor Swift officially announced her seventh studio album, which is called Lover and will be out on 8/23. I think you can find romance in loneliness or sadness or going through a conflict or dealing with things in your life.

She says that these incidents continued to occur over the course of the school year and eventually became violent, saying that he was thrown off a ladder slide by his neck and even hit with a computer.

The final straw was last month when the administrators separated her son on the playground so they could keep an eye on the situation. Three days later, she was in handcuffs.

"I am absolutely ashamed of myself for the actions of walking up into that school", Rathburn told Greenville News. "You know, I owe the parents, the children, and the staff an apology for that", she said.

According to Brotherton, some of the specific incidents involved another classmate making faces or telling Rathburn's son that his haircut was "silly", but Rathburn insists the treatment of her son was closer to harassment. Absolutely, it was wrong. In another statement to police, the teacher said that Rathburn "cursed him repeatedly", once he was able to get into the classroom.

Rathburn also said that she herself was the victim of bullying-which was so bad that she attempted suicide when she was 13-years-old.

"Honestly, I don't know how I could have gotten my message across any other way", she told the outlet.

Rathburn reportedly was fed up and made a decision to take matters into her own hands.

"We have 91 schools", Brian Sherman, assistant to the school district's superintendent said.

Her court date is set for June 18.
