Uber to Premiere NYC Helicopter Rides in July

Uber Copter to Offer Helicopter Rides Starting in July

After taking on the roads, Uber is now spreading its wings into the air by announcing its helicopter riding service called Uber Copter.

Plus, this isn't something just anyone can access: it's reserved for Platinum and Diamond members of Uber's Rewards program, which means you'll have to already be dropping a lot of cash on rides to even qualify for whirligig service. A typical flight will cost Dollars 200 to USD 225 per person. Rides can be booked using the Uber app, but as this is a helicopter and not a vehicle, customers will have to settle for a predetermined route: an eight-minute journey between Lower Manhattan and Kennedy International Airport. That is Uber's first multi-modal option, integrating an 8-minute helicopter flight with an Uber dart back and forth on each ends with a single tap of a button. The helicopters can accommodate up to five passengers and can be booked on demand or days in advance.

Uber said the service would help time-pressed riders save up to an hour they would otherwise spend in congested city traffic to and from JFK airport.

Since its inception in 2014, the New York-based helicopter booking platform Blade was nicknamed "The Uber of Helicopters" by the general press.

Trump calls off tariffs on imports from Mexico
The rate would have increased every month until the tariff reached 25 percent. Details of the agreement will be made public shortly, Mr Trump added.

Trump says US, Mexico reach agreement to prevent tariffs
Chuck Schumer , the top Democrat in the Senate, mocked Trump's triumphant announcement of a deal to reduce illegal immigration. Pence was among the administration officials involved in the talks while the president was in Europe.

The eight-minute ride will cost more than $200, but the company said it hopes to expand to other cities. Uber Copter will only be available to top-tier Uber users.

Endgaget reports that the helicopters can carry up to five passengers at once. One potential sticking point-at least for some customers: Each passenger will be allowed only one personal bag and a carry-on weighing less than 40 pounds because of space and weight constraints.

"Our plan is to eventually roll out Uber Copter to more Uber customers and to other cities, but we want to do it right", Eric Allison, head of Uber Elevate, told the Times. Blade's 7 a.m. -to-7 p.m. service from Manhattan now leaves from three Blade Lounges - near Hudson Yards on the West Side, East 34th Street and Wall Street - and also offers continuous flights to LaGuardia and Newark Airports from Sunday through Friday.
