Three people arrested over death of heavily pregnant woman in Chicago

Pregnant Chicago woman lured to free baby clothing offer, killed, and baby cut from her womb

Yavani Yadiel Lopez, the newborn baby of 19-year-old Marlen Ochoa, was in critical condition and on life support at Advocate Christ Medical Center, after her mother was strangled and Yavani was cut from her womb. Her body was found this week, and the cause of death was homicide by strangulation, the Cook County, Illinois, medical examiner's office said Wednesday.

Police did not connect the woman's disappearance and the 911 call about the baby until May 7, when friends of Ochoa-Lopez directed detectives to her social media account, which showed she had communicated with Figueroa in a Facebook group for expectant mothers.

On the day Ochoa-Lopez went missing, the Chicago Fire Department had received a call about a newborn in distress from the home where the young mother's body was eventually found, authorities said.

Police said Ms Marlen Ochoa-Lopez, 19, who was lured to the home of someone she knew on April 23 with the promise of free baby supplies, was instead strangled to death, and her baby extracted from her womb.

Hours after the baby was removed, Figueroa reportedly called emergency services and said it was not breathing.

Ochoa-Lopez's body was discovered more than three weeks later in the back of the Southwest Side home, according to police. Ochoa-Lopez's auto was found near the home.

When detectives interviewed Clarisa Figueroa at the hospital, she told them she had met Ochoa-Lopez previously but that the victim had not visited her the day she went missing, police said. The motive for the killing is under investigation, but the superintendent said he assumed the suspect wanted to raise the child as her own. DNA tests revealed that Ochoa-Lopez and her husband Yiovanni Lopez are the parents. He and Ochoa-Lopez have another 3-year-old son, reported The AP.

Ochoa-Lopez was the oldest of four siblings and took on the role of caretaker for them, her family said. The woman apparently was offering to give away extra baby clothes and a stroller that had been given to her daughter.

Pakistan were probably favourites for quite a bit of that (chase) with a guy 130-odd not out and looking pretty imperious. Despite his fine form for Hampshire, James Vince has struggled to force his way into the one-day side in recent seasons.

The pregnant woman, who had been reported missing three weeks ago, has been identified as Marlen Ochoa-Uriostegui.

The mother's boyfriend, 40-year-old Piotr Bobak, was charged with concealment of a homicide. The baby, however, was not Ochoa-Uriostegui's.

The family had been making public pleas to locate her since she disappeared, at one point asking police to check the identity of a newborn brought to a Chicago fire station shortly after birth. "She was a good person".

The DNA matched the baby's father, said Cortes of Adalberto Memorial United Methodist Church.

"Due to the fact that I'm in school and can't work at the moment, I can't afford to buy the rest of the things since I'm short on cash right now", Ochoa-Lopez wrote, according to screen shots of the exchange, reports CBS Chicago. "We have looked for her and prayed for her".

Ochoa-Uriostegui's son, named Yadiel Yovany Lopez by his father and Ochoa-Uriostegui's husband, Giovanni Lopez, is now in hospital on life support.

The woman said she was located near West 79th Street and South Pulaski Road, an intersection just blocks from the house where Ochoa-Lopez's body would later be found.
