How Mueller's hunt for a Russia-Trump conspiracy came up short

Roger Stone Attacks Mueller Indictment Seeks to See ReportMore

Mueller released the report on his almost two year investigation into Russian meddling during the 2016 presidential election on March 22.

Trump had previously said the decision to release the report would be "totally up to" his attorney general, while his press secretary Sarah Sanders in March said "I don't think the president has any problem" with its publication.

Rosenstein appointed Mueller as special counsel for the Russian Federation probe in May 2017, after Trump fired former FBI director James Comey, who had directed the investigation to that point.

Tiger Woods claims first US Masters since 2008 in major comeback
To Tiger Woods the joyous scene by the 18th green confirmed that his career, if not his life, has come "full circle". It could have gone so many different ways, and I just kept hanging in there until the last couple of holes.

Barr and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, however, concluded that Mueller's finding were "not sufficient to establish that the President committed an obstruction-of-justice offense". The full report will show whether Barr's summary left out anything damaging to the president. He also described the four types of redactions that the DOJ will make before releasing a version of the report to lawmakers: grand-jury information, information that would reveal intelligence sources and methods, information that affects the privacy of "peripheral players" not charged as a result of the investigation, and information that would compromise ongoing prosecutions. The president's personal attorney Jay Sekulow refused to disclose how they will tackle the redacted report - which Barr is expected to deliver this week - though he told the newspaper it will be similar to how they responded to Barr's summary sent to Congress.

Last month, Barr released a letter saying Mueller had not established evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives, but also saying Mueller had provided evidence of alleged obstruction of justice by Donald Trump while declining to recommend prosecution.

All of that suggests the controversy is likely to be far from over even when the redacted, lengthy Mueller report is released.
