Burger King pulls NZ chopsticks ad after outcry in China

A New York State police officer displays a handgun with a child safety lock

It included the caption: "Take your taste buds all the way to Ho Chi Minh City".

Tweets containing the original ad have been posted almost three million times online.

The advert for a new Vietnamese burger in New Zealand has sparked a debate over whether the advert is harmless fun or culturally insensitive and racist.

"Because I couldn't believe such blatantly ignorant ads are still happening in 2019, it honestly took me a second to work out what the heck I was looking at", Mo said.

The ad was pulled from television, however, it was still being promoted on social media, including on Burger King's Facebook page - though it has since been removed - and as a sponsored post on Instagram, which is where Mo viewed it.

U.S. fast food chain Burger King on Tuesday apologized after one of its commercials featuring chopsticks drew global backlash.

"I could not believe that such a concept was approved for such a big, well-known company".

Ronaldo in Juventus squad for Ajax match
Ajax had 61 percent possession against a team that loves to have the ball, and they had 19 shots to Juve's seven. The Juventus squad is also full of players in their late 20s and 30s, and this could benefit Ajax .

There were some social media users who gave Burger King, which operates 1,000 stores in China, the benefit of the doubt.

She added: "While the controversies themselves may come and go, they not only leave a bad taste in the mouth, they leave consumers starting to question whether these adverts are deliberately racist".

Mo told www.huffpost.com that she shared the clip as she was exhausted of large corporations portraying Asians in an offensive manner.

"We are truly sorry that the ad has appeared insensitive to our community", he said. "A male narrator, trying to tell the woman how to "properly" eat her food", says, "let's use these small stick-like things to eat our great pizza Margherita".

Several other users agreed with her, saying the ad made chopsticks look "clumsy" and "stupid". But particularly since the rise of social media, that message has become hard to control and reel in at all times.

Chinese media outlets compared the Burger King video to one issued by Italian luxury brand Dolce & Gabbana a year ago, which featured a Chinese model struggling to eat pizza and spaghetti with chopsticks.
