Proposed bill would require Missouri residents to own an AR-15

Missouri lawmaker introduces bill that would require residents to own AR-15 semi-automatic rifles

A lawmaker in Missouri recently introduced a bill in the state House that would mandate virtually every adult Missourian own an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle by the end of next year.

A bill introduced in Missouri would require residents to own AR-15 guns. Purchasers could then claim the tax credit on up to 75 percent of the gun's cost.

Gun shop owner Jeff Binkley displays AR-15 "Sport" rifles at Sarge's Sidearms on September 29, 2016 in Benson, Arizona.

On Monday, state lawmakers debated a separate measure that would allow concealed weapons to be carried in public places that now ban guns.

On Tuesday, a top aide to a Missouri state senator was arrested after a bar fight at Spectator's Bar and Grill in downtown Jefferson City, Missouri during which the loaded 9 mm Ruger handgun he was carrying fell to the floor of the restaurant.

Solskjaer Says Man Utd Have Quality To Win Champions League
The 46-year-old said: 'Any game you lose is a big anti-climax. 'I don't agree with Gary Neville when he says teams should go out of this competition to focus on that.

A resident, the language in the proposed bill states, is someone who is "18 years of age or older and under 35 years of age" who is not prohibited by law from possessing a firearm.

McDaniel was elected in 2014 and represents parts of Dunklin and Pemiscot Counties.

HB1108, along with another bill that simply requires adults to legally possess a firearm and offers tax credits for doing so, "points out the absurdity of the opposite side" in the gun debate, whose gun control proposals "add more requirements and barriers for law-abiding citizens". Instead, the Missouri lawmaker hopes to "make a point on mandates in general", according to Fox4KC.

McDaniel, who is a former sheriff's deputy, told the Associated Press that he knows his bill has no chance of becoming law.

In contrast to McDaniel's Militia Act, the handgun-focused bill specifies that Missourians purchase "a pistol, revolver, or other firearm created to be held in one hand that is capable of firing.22 caliber ammunition or larger".
