Johnny Manziel reportedly signs deal to join AAF

Johnny Manziel reportedly signs agreement to play in the AAF

Johnny Manziel is headed back to the United States to play football.

On Saturday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the former Browns QB has signed with the up-start Alliance of American Football League. Because San Antonio, the team he would have been allocated to, waived his rights, according to Schefter, he will go through the league's waiver system. The Memphis Express now boast a 1-5 record, and the Salt Lake Stallions hold a 2-4 record - making them the first two teams in the league's waiver process.

Memphis, which lost 22-9 to Salt Lake on Saturday, has already used Christian Hackenberg, Zach Mettenberger and former Troy standout Brandon Silvers at quarterback this season.

Manziel won the Heisman Trophy at Texas A&M as a redshirt freshman in 2012, and passed for 7,820 yards and 63 touchdowns in two seasons with the Aggies. Memphis has struggled on offense throughout the season.
