US Judge Sets November Trial for Trump Adviser Stone

November trial date set for Trump confidant Roger Stone

A federal judge on Thursday set a November 5 trial date for President Donald Trump's longtime political ally and self-described dirty trickster, Roger Stone.

In court on Thursday, Berman Jackson, the same judge who sentenced Manafort this week, said she had not had time to fully review the latest developments and would not be addressing the gag order issue on Thursday, though she said she was not impressed with his lawyer's excuses.

"I now find myself on Crooked Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller's hit list because I've advised Donald Trump for the past forty years", Stone says in the new introduction, written this year before his arrest.

Jackson so far has slammed Stone's team for failing to tell her about the book sooner and suggested its belated court filing appeared created to drive book sales - which have been minimal, according to emails from the publisher.

Unlike at previous hearings, prosecutor Jeannie Rhee from Mueller's office handled arguments for the prosecution on Thursday. Those charges were brought by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's team in its probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election.

Rice handed first England call-up after switch from Ireland
There is a recall for Tom Heaton, whose impressive form for Burnley sees him joining fellow goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, which stem from conversations he had during the campaign about WikiLeaks, the anti-secrecy group that released material stolen from Democratic groups, including Hillary Clinton's campaign.

The trial is set so far in the future because of the mountain of evidence in the case.

Additional upcoming dates in the Stone case will include April 30, for a status hearing and September 17 for a pretrial conference.

"No fireworks", he said as he made his way through a crush of television cameras outside the courthouse.

The special counsel's office indicted Stone in January on five counts of lying to Congress, one count of witness tampering, and one count of obstruction of justice. He has pleaded not guilty and remains free pending trial, but he is under the gag order and has travel limitations.
