WR DeVante Parker gets another chance with Dolphins | AP sports

DeVante Parker

A native of Jackson, Miss. The Dolphins released Danny Amendola last week in order to clear $6 million in cap space, Miami was exploring free-agent receivers like Phillip Dorsett and Chris Hogan, but Parker's resigning likely ends those possibilities.

According to multiple reports, the Dolphins and Parker agreed on a $13 million extension.

Parker, who has 163 catches, 2,217 yards and 9 TDs in his first 4 seasons with the Dolphins, will be on a prove it deal to the new coaching staff.

The Dolphins exercised their fifth-year option on Parker last April in hopes that the player would realize the potential that got him drafted 14th overall in the 2015 draft out of Louisville.

Paker's most productive season was 2016. Former head coach Adam Gase had kept Parker on the bench a few times previous year, despite Parker believing that he was healthy enough to play.

The 26-year-old played 11 games in 2018, finishing with a career-low 309 receiving yards and one touchdown.

However, with the new deal, Brian Flores and the Dolphins are willing to give Parker another chance. Parker's agent, Jimmy Gould, made headlines around midseason by calling Gase "incompetent" in statements to the media.
