Canadian YouTube star Lilly Singh to host NBC late-night show

Lilly Singh’s show A Little Late with Lilly Singh premieres in September

Executive vice president, special programs and late night at NBC Entertainment, Doug Vaughan said Singh is "a star" and they are "thrilled to welcome her to [the] NBC family".

Singh's appointment is historic, as it makes her the only woman to now lead a late-night show on a broadcast network.

Singh calls the prospect of being an Indian-Canadian woman with her own late-night show "a dream come true". She kicked off her YouTube career in 2010 under the pseudonym "IISuperwomanII" and has since grown to become one of the platform's most successful stars, earning a reported $10.5 million in 2017.

Titled A Little Late with Lilly Singh, the show makes Lilly the only woman having a late night show on a major network.

"[The show] will be kind of like my YouTube channel but now I have more than three staff members", Singh quipped.

The show will launch in September.
