#4 Virginia Bounces Back From Duke Loss, Wins at #8 North Carolina
Virginia - knocked off balance by a 17-3 North Carolina run in a game in which two Tar Heels got injured for varying lengths of time - found its footing and closed the contest with a 23-8 finishing kick to dig out a 69-61 win over a gallant and resolute opponent. After allowing Duke to shoot 58 percent and make 13 of 21 3-pointers Saturday, Virginia held UNC to 35-percent shooting and just 9 of 30 (30 percent) from 3-point range.
Guy hit 5-of-9 three-pointers for the Cavaliers, including two in the final two minutes.
Maye led all players with 31 points and 12 rebounds in UNC's 113-96 win over NC State and had 20 points and six rebounds in an 88-85 overtime win over Miami. Ty Jerome had a double-double with 15 points and 11 assists for the Cavaliers.
Freshman Coby White paced No. 8 UNC (19-5, 9-2) with 17 points, while Cameron Johnson added 16 points. Cam Johnson scored 16 points and grabbed 7 rebounds despite missing part of the final 10 minutes of the game with an ankle injury.
"I thought we had some tough stretches and Carolina did some good things, but when you have a guy like Kyle ..." The offense hummed along by shooting 53 percent, including 11 of 20 on 3-pointers, and Virginia didn't turn it over in the final 12 minutes.
Bianca Cuevas-Moore scored 25 points and Te'a Cooper had 20 to lead SC (17-6), which had won 13 of its past 14 games.
After not playing great defense for much of the second half, Virginia locked down at the end of the game, and two threes from Guy on back-to-back possessions ensured the Cavaliers would win. "We just didn't seize the opportunity".
The Cavs won't have to return to North Carolina until the ACC tournament in Charlotte on March 12.

UNC trailed Virginia 36-29 at halftime of tonight's ACC showdown, but this game wasn't the Heels' only concern. The junior collided headfirst with Hunter in the first half against Duke and did not reenter while being examined for concussion symptoms.
Almost half of UNC's shots were 3-pointers, 30 of the 65 total, and at one point in the first half 10 of UNC's first 15 shots were from 3-point range. "We missed a lot of shots during that time period and down the stretch they didn't miss many shots".
Guy's shots deflated the Tar Heels and their crowd.
The first half also included North Carolina freshman forward Nassir Little landing awkwardly on his right leg. He did not play the rest of the game. "I told them, 'This isn't about winning or losing.' I said, 'This is an important game to get back to what we need to do'".
Down 55-48 midway through the second half, were they going to crumble or respond?
"It kind of stopped momentum there for a little bit, but we've still got to finish the game", White said.
