Osaka splits with coach Bajin

Naomi Osaka and Sascha Bajin

Naomi Osaka surprisingly split from coach Sascha Bajin, a little more than two weeks after she won the Australian Open for a second consecutive Grand Slam title and moved to No. 1 in the WTA rankings.

Osaka, whose win in Melbourne took her to the world No. 1 spot for the first time, released a short statement on Twitter confirming the split.

She also thanked Bajin and wished him "all the best in the future".

No further information on the decision has yet been given. That's the fastest of any player in WTA history.

England boss Jones ready for ‘greatest Welsh side ever’ after France rout
England coach Eddie Jones says his team will have to be at its "absolute best" to beat Wales in Cardiff on 23 February. France coach Jacques Brunel admitted it had been no contest and that England had beaten them up from the start.

During that period she won the prestigious Indian Wells tournament before scooping her first major in NY, while Bajin was named WTA coach of the year.

"Thanks to my team, I don't think I would have made it through this week without you", she said after her Australian Open triumph.

Osaka withdrew from this week's Qatar Open, citing a back injury.

Former greats Billie Jean King, Martina Navratilova and Chris Evert have all heaped praise on the new darling of women's tennis.
