Katy Perry ‘Blackface’ Shoes Pulled From Stores

TMZ is reporting that two shoe designs from the Katy Perry Collections will be yanked from the shelves of Walmart, Dillard's and other retailers due to their unfortunate resemblance to blackface.

The "Rue Face Slip On Loafers" and the "Ora Face Block Heel Sandal" were both available in a beige and black design, and you can guess which one sparked the controversy. In the wake of the blackface scandal enveloping Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam and other officials in the state, someone in Perry's camp made a decision to stop selling the shoes.

The shoes, which depict a blue-eyed face on top of black material, apparently imitate blackface.

The singer was called out on the black styles over their similarity to blackface, a racist practice in which white people darkened their skin to represent caricatures of black people.

"In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes", the insider shared.

Check out a picture of the shoes here posted on social media designed by Perry. The two styles appear with two eyes, a nose and red lips on them.
