George Clooney Is a Brutal Lieutenant in First 'Catch-22' Trailer

Catch-22 George Clooney

Hulu's miniseries adaptation of Joseph Heller's highly influential novel Catch-22 has got a teaser. Based on Joseph Heller's 1961 literary classic of the same name, Catch-22 is both war satire and tragedy, giving Americans a deeply cynical perspective on what Heller saw as the needless loss of lives during a war that until than had been depicted as exclusively a noble effort.

Set during World War II, the six-part miniseries follows a United States bombardier named Yossarian who is infuriated that the army keeps raising the number of missions he must fly to be released from duty.

In addition to director George Clooney and Kyle Chandler, Catch-22 also stars Christopher Abbott, Hugh Laurie, Giancarlo Giannini, Jay Paulson, and Julie Ann Emery.

Missouri jail nurse accused of murdering husband so she could marry inmate
An autopsy determined her husband was poisoned by a chemical in antifreeze and likely died before the blaze started. Amy Murray has since been charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, KSIS reported on February 8.

Yossarian's real problem is not the enemy, however, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. When Yossarian and his fellow airmen attempt to avoid these unsafe missions, they find themselves in violation of regulation 22; a request to be removed from duty is evidence of sanity and therefore makes him ineligible to be relieved from duty. Based on the classic satirical novel from Joseph Heller, the six-episode limited series premieres May 17th.

Catch-22 is executive produced by George Clooney and Grant Heslov on behalf of Smokehouse Pictures, along with Richard Brown and Steve Golin on behalf of Anonymous Content. Luke Davies and David Michôd are co-writers and executive producers for the series.

Catch-22 was also adapted as a film in 1970, directed by Mike Nichols and starring Alan Arkin, Martin Balsam and Bob Balaban.
