R. Kelly's Attorney Speaks Out Over Docuseries Allegations

R. Kelly

Kelly, 52, the Chicago singer and record producer best known for his hit song I Believe I Can Fly, has for years denied accusations of abuse, including those made in the new documentary.

On Thursday, the singer's estranged daughter, Joann Kelly, who is also known as Buku Abi, shared a long post on her Instagram story rebuking her father and calling him a monster.

Greenberg told the Associated Press: 'The allegations aren't true because he never knowingly had sex with an underage woman, he never forced anyone to do anything, he never held anyone captive, he never abused anyone'.

Surviving R Kelly follows the BBC's R Kelly: Sex, Girls & Videotapes, which was released a year ago.

Activists from the #MeToo and #MuteRKelly social media movements have seized on the renewed attention to call for streaming services to drop Kelly's music and promoters not to book any more concerts.

In the first, MPs backed an amendment aimed at making it more hard to leave the European Union without a deal. Mr Hunt said: "It's now looking much less likely that Parliament would allow a no-deal outcome anyway".

According to editors at TMZ, the Cook County State Attorney's Office received a tip that Kelly was at his Trump Tower residence in Chicago with the women and he was holding them against their will. Lifetime did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

While initially Greenberg said he "didn't watch one minute" of the series because he doesn't "watch that kind of trash", the lawyer eventually acquiesced that he's "seen snippets of it".

The lawyer claimed women have "come on to" Kelly in the hopes of kick-starting their own careers, only to become "disgruntled" when their plans didn't pan out as planned. Officers interviewed Kelly and the women but found no evidence of wrongdoing.

The docuseries featured dozens of women, former employees and music celebrities all claiming that Kelly preyed on underage girls and sexually, physically and mentally abused them.

When it comes to the many celebs who have begun to distance themselves from Kelly since the release of the series, Greenberg took aim at Lady Gaga specifically.
