Hacienda HealthCare operates the long-term care facility for the developmentally disabled where the Native American woman, who has been in a vegetative state for 14 years after a near-drowning, gave birth on December 29 to a baby boy, according to KPHO.

Police are seeking DNA samples from all male staffers at the facility in a push to identify the father of the baby boy, according to a Tuesday statement from Hacienda Healthcare obtained by PEOPLE.

The revelation that a Phoenix woman in a vegetative state recently gave birth has prompted Hacienda HealthCare CEO Bill Timmons to resign, putting a spotlight on the safety of long-term care settings for patients who are severely disabled or incapacitated.

Phoenix police obtained search warrants for the samples, Hacienda HealthCare confirmed Tuesday. "The woman and the baby were transported to a local hospital and at this time, both the mother and the baby are recovering".

"The family would like me to convey that the baby boy has been born into a loving family and will be well cared for".

CNN affiliate KPHO/KTVK has reported the woman has been in a vegetative state for 14 years, quoting a source familiar with the situation.

Today, the San Carlos Apache Tribe (the "Tribe") learned of the tragic circumstances surrounding [redacted], an enrolled member of the Tribe.

She said the team may also consider performing rape kits on the victim.

Hacienda has said it will "do everything in [its] power to bring this police investigation to a quick conclusion".
