Facebook literally can’t be deleted on some Samsung phones

Want to delete Facebook? Too bad

Some Samsung smartphone users were in for a shock when they discovered that they were unable to delete the Facebook app from their devices, according to a report by Bloomberg. A T-Mobile Galaxy S9 comes with Facebook and Amazon preinstalled, but also Google apps like YouTube, Google Play Music, and Gmail. Singh, who lives in the Susquehanna Valley of the eastern USA and works in transportation, bought his Samsung phone seven months ago. Samsung has declined to provide a list of its partners, but it's not Samsung Mobile in general, as every Samsung phone would ship with a "permanent" Facebook application, which is not the case. "We the consumer should have [a] say in what we want and don't want on our products".

The study titled How Apps On Android Share Data With Facebook (Even If You Don't Have A Facebook Account) states that: "Facebook routinely tracks users, non-users and logged-out users outside its platform through Facebook Business Tools".

Users can't delete these (except by hacking into their devices), and they can instead only be disabled and hidden.

Manufacturers and the concerned app developers keep on insisting that pre-installed apps do not collect data when disabled.

But Facebook, which has spent the past year apologizing for security breaches and data privacy scandals, is the one drawing ire about its irrevocable presence on Samsung's phones.

Authorities said members of the Armenian ring attended the matches to ensure the players complied with what was previously agreed. The investigation had resulted in the freezing of 42 bank accounts and the confiscation of various properties.

This correspondent can confirm that this doesn't just apply to new phones.

However, the customer isn't informed about any of this before a purchase is made. He first tried to delete the Facebook app when he was setting up the device.

Not being allowed to uninstall the Facebook app is neither new nor surprising as the app comes/came pre-installed on many Galaxy smartphones in one form or the other. Other phone makers and service providers, including LG Electronics Inc., Sony Corp., Verizon Communications Inc. and AT&T Inc., have made similar deals with app makers.

Privacy International, a Britain-based organization that promotes and defends the right to privacy worldwide, released a study which claims that Facebook collected data on users who don't even own Facebook accounts.

"Very slimy. Been a Samsung customer for 10 years. Time to move on". In other words, once the user has disabled the Facebook app, it stops running. Basically, you can't use or log in to Facebook unless you decide to update the placeholder app. I was recently using the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and the pre-installed Facebook, as well as Instagram apps, refused to work without updating to the latest version. For his next phone, he said he'll consider buying something else.
