Twitter Reacts To Greg Hardy, Rachael Ostovich On The Same Card

UFC set to put domestic violence abuser and domestic violence victim on the same card

Hardy, who recently transitioned to mixed martial arts when his National Football League career ended in 2015, will make his official UFC debut on the organization's television debut with ESPN+ on January 19, though some sections of the MMA media have questioned the UFC's wisdom in booking Hardy to compete on the same card as Rachael Ostovich, who faces Paige VanZant at the same event.

Hardy is set to fight Allen Crowder at UFC on ESPN on January 19 - the same night Ostovich will return to the Octagon after her domestic violence incident. Hardy also went 3-0 as an amateur. He initially signed a developmental deal with the UFC following his first Contender Series victory.

After Hardy earned a developmental contract, White spoke of Hardy's troubled past, telling reporters, "The reality is if this guy stays clean for the next 10 years, wins a world title and is one of the greatest mixed martial arts of all time, he's always going to hear about his past", White said.

The heavyweight will share the card with Rachael Ostovich, who will fight Paige VanZant in a women's flyweight bout at the Brooklyn event. Ostovich recently had her orbital bone broken in an alleged attack by her husband.

Istanbul prosecutor seeks arrest of Saudi officials over Khashoggi killing
He said finding a compromise will be hard because some lawmakers don't want to tie Yemen to the Khashoggi killing. Graham asserts pretty blatantly that Trump himself is tied up in the killing to some extent.

It's extraordinarily bad optics, not to mention hugely insensitive, to put Hardy - a man who has a serious domestic violence accusation (and expunged conviction) in his past - on the same card with Ostovich.

As we previously reported, Ostovich was hospitalized last month following an altercation with her MMA fighter husband Arnold Berdon, who was later arrested and charged with assault.

But the UFC made a decision to seal the deal on his quick call-up and pull him from that event so he could make his big debut as the company makes its maiden appearance on ESPN+.

White told ESPN that official fight contracts are yet to be signed, but he expects a deal to get done shortly.
