Verizon will start offering its first 5G smartphones in the first half of next year after announcing a new partnership with Samsung. The Galaxy A8s will support dual-band Wi-Fi, reveals the document which was even suggested by the FCC listing, so there's nothing much new to state here. Previously, it was expected that the Galaxy A8s would launch in January, leaving Huawei in the clear to launch the Nova 4 in December. The addition allows the companies to place front cameras and sensors at the top but some tech fans aren't happy with the look.
The handset is rumored to pack a 3,400mAh battery and it will have a USB Type-C port. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 710 SoC along with up to 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 512GB). The image shows the front panel of the Huawei Nova 4 and the circular cutout near the upper left corner of the display is clearly visible. The Galaxy A8s will feature a 6.39-inch fullHD+ (2340 x 1080) IPS LCD display, at least according to rumors, and that is quite interesting as the company usually includes OLED displays on all of its smartphones these days, but these displays have allegedly been manufactured by BOE. The promo image confirms that the device will be officially announced in China on December 17, one week after Samsung launches the Galaxy A8s. The Galaxy A8s is expected to come with a vertically aligned triple rear camera setup with a combination of a 24-megapixel primary camera, and 10-megapixel and 5-megapixel cameras.
