"And love will have you doing things that are not in your best interest".

Neither Foster nor his representatives have responded to ABC News' request for comment. Foster: "Our commitment to domestic violence survivors is unwavering".

"Even when I called the police, the 49ers came up there", Ennis said.

Officers observed an inch-long scratch on the side of Ennis's left collarbone and took Foster into custody, police said.

Foster was arrested nonetheless and was freed on a $2,000 bail.

"I told him I was going to tell his new girlfriend that he paid for my flight out there, so that's what triggered it". But when asked about her explanation for recanting those allegations, she said, "I was not telling the truth" about the reason she provided. "So I was like, I can't believe you're back to doing this".

Ennis said she sustained a concussion from the slap from Foster, a 6-foot-1, 280-pound linebacker.

After Foster's arrest, the 49ers placed Foster on waivers. He was the team's first-round draft pick in 2017. He dragged me down the stairs two, three times. Twice she called police, and another time - in October - the neighbors called, she said.

Almost one in four adult women report experiencing severe physical violence from an intimate partner, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and experts say trying to leave a violent relationship is the most unsafe time for victims.

Reuben Foster's ex-girlfriend tells ABC's "Good Morning America" that he slapped her and pushed her during an incident in Tampa, Florida, that led to his arrest for domestic violence. Both instanced involved Ennis, who testified on the witness stand during the trial for the earlier arrest that her claims of domestic violence were a fabrication.

Today, as seen in the GMA interview below, Ennis says she was lying when she recanted her claims of domestic abuse because she loved Foster. "I did what I had to do for the person I loved. I thought that he would change". Ennis's family advised her not to recant her story, she said.

In this latest incident, an argument led to a physical confrontation. "Anybody in my position would do the same", Ennis said.

On Thursday, Ennis recalled her horror at learning her alleged attacker had been picked up by another team.

Doug Williams, the Redskins' senior vice president of player personnel, said in a statement last week that team officials "fully understand the severity of the recent allegations made against Reuben".

Ennis had traveled to Tampa to work on her relationship with Foster.

"Like, everything I thought was love is really not love", she said. Foster, 24, is not allowed to practice, play or take part in any league activities while the police investigation continues but is still collecting a salary of $50,000-a-week. But, as La Canfora notes, Foster has previously violated the personal conduct policy and as a result, could face severe discipline.
