U.S. military could lose war against China: American Congress` appointed commission
According to a report published by The Washington Post, a commission set-up by US Congress to study defence strategy of Donald Trump found there was an urgent need to reshape American military so that it can compete with China and Russian Federation in current times.
"The prolonged, deliberate buildup of overwhelming force in theater that has traditionally been the hallmark of American expeditionary warfare would be vastly more hard and costly, if it were possible at all", the authors add. "Put bluntly, the USA military could lose the next state-versus-state war it fights".
A new report published Wednesday by the National Defense Strategy Commission found the might of the USA military is slipping as China and Russian Federation continue to seek dominance in their regions and globally.
If the United States went to war with Russian Federation or China tomorrow, the military would nearly certainly suffer a " decisive military defeat", so far that the "security and wellbeing" of the U.S. "The United States is particularly at risk of being overwhelmed should its military be forced to fight on two or more fronts simultaneously".

These forensics experts won't have the access they need ahead of CalFire and Forest Service officials on the ground now, he said. He posted a photo of what his residence was like before the fire. "It's not the house, because you can rebuild".
In its list of 32 recommendations, the commission urged the Pentagon to explain more clearly how it intends to defeat major-power rivals in competition and war.
Russian Federation and China have "learned from what we've done. And while we've been off doing a different kind of warfare, they've been prepared for a kind of warfare at the high end that we really haven't engaged in for a very long time", Edelman told Michael Morell, the former acting director of the CIA and a fellow member of the commission, during a forthcoming episode of Morell's podcast Intelligence Matters. "Classifying this information, we think, complicates the debate without adding a lot of value". This includes lifting budget caps on defence spendings and allocate proper resources and in the right measure.
The U.S. military budget jumped to $716 billion this year, more than four times China's military budget and more than 10 times Russia's, the Post notes. The National Defence Strategy Commission found that that complacency may be hampering the United States military and its clout and capabilities the world over.
Meanwhile, National Security Advisor John Bolton has said the budget will remain stagnant over the next few years, and the administration has advocated for cutting costs, according to the Post, which would adversely impact the likelihood of fulfilling the goals of the national defense strategy, the commission found.
