Susanna Dinnage appointed Premier League chief executive

Richard Scudamore and Susanna Dinnage

She replaces Richard Scudamore, who confirmed in June that he would be stepping down after 19 years as the Premier League's executive chairman.

Animal Planet Global president Susanna Dinnage has been appointed CEO of English soccer's Premier League.

She joined Discovery in 2009 and previously ran its British and Irish operation, which included responsibility for Eurosport.

"We are very pleased to appoint such a capable leader to this important role", Buck said of the appointment.

Now those same clubs may see an opportunity to take more control of the Premier League's future direction themselves, rather than give Scudamore's successor the same power he had in calling the shots.

'With the support of clubs and the team, I look forward to extending the success of the League for many years to come'.

Rams WR Kupp leaves Seahawks game with knee injury
For now, let's celebrate being 9-1 and hope that the team can keep this momentum going into the big showdown on the biggest stage. We also learned that once again, the Rams can respond to adversity and in close games. "We're confident that we'll pull it out".

'We had a very strong field, but Susanna was the outstanding choice given her track record in managing complex businesses through transformation and digital disruption.

Unfortunately for little Richard, the Premier League didn't yet exist when he was a child, and so he would have to wait an agonising 40 years from his birth until he could achieve his dreams and take his seat at the top of the footballing table.

"She is a leading figure in the broadcasting industry, a proven business executive and a great developer of people", said Buck.

But achieve his dreams he did, through grit and determination, and against all odds that little boy who dreamed of one day earning ludicrous amounts of money working as an administrator for the Premier League did just that. She has a strong understanding of brands and running diverse media businesses both in the United Kingdom and more recently with Animal Planet globally.

With Scudamore at the helm, the Premier League's value to broadcasters has skyrocketed, allowing the league to negotiate television rights worth billions of pounds. As part of the selection process The FA was required to ratify the appointment - and The FA Board was unanimous. Dinnage has been chosen to replace Richard Scudamore who will stand down next month after nearly 20 years overseeing the League's financial boom.
