Cricket Australia Sacks High-Performance Chief Pat Howard

Cricket Australia to farewell Pat Howard Ben Amarfio as blood-letting continues

The Longstaff review was highly critical of the board and team culture that had been created and Roberts had been a key executive figure during the time as COO, notably around the heated MoU debate, but he said the findings had shown enough successes in his role - pinpointing The One Team initiative to bring state and territories together, gender pay equity and community cricket - to mean he was the man to take CA forward.

"Everyone at CA is focused on rebuilding and moving forward after what has been a turbulent year".

As news of long-serving high-performance chief Pat Howard's impending exit spread across the cricket community, controversial suit Ben Amarfio was literally receiving his marching orders.

Roberts said his organisation would heed the review's call to meet with the Australian Cricketers' Association and mend its fraught relationship with the players' union.

Amarfio, who joined the organisation in 2012, is the latest casualty of CA's cultural review which was commissioned following the ball-tampering scandal during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town in March.

Howard, who has been in the role since 2011, had meant to stay until the Ashes tour of England next year, the governing body announced last month, a week before releasing the Longstaff review.

Belinda Clark, the former Australia captain, will take on an interim role as executive general manager of team performance while a recruitment process has been undertaken to replace Howard.

According to Millett, soon women may be having same number of heart attacks as women with the rise in the ageing population. Men who smoked were twice as likely to get heart attacks compared to men who did not smoke.

Australia's high performance chief Pat Howard has been sacked from his post.

"We talk openly and honestly and obviously today's news was a shock as well", Carey told reporters in Adelaide.

The "Sandpaper-gate" scandal, where the team was caught using sandpaper to alter the flight of the ball, also cost former coach Darren Lehmann his job and prompted lengthy bans for three players.

"So I don't think it's a distraction ... it's all a bit of white noise for us".

Mr Amarfio helped broker the $1.2 billion broadcast deal, which CA signed earlier this year with Channel 7 and Foxtel.

Chairman David Peever stepped down last week and director Mark Taylor quit on Monday.

Taylor's exit leaves Michael Kasprowicz as the only former first-class or worldwide player on CA's board, a worrying result given the "commercialisation of cricket" was among many concerns flagged by The Ethics Centre.
