Released video of the crash of the Soyuz rocket with onboard camera

Faulty sensor identified as cause of aborted Soyuz launch

The LV failure cause is of the operational nature and spreads to the stock of already assembled packets of the Soyuz rocket.

The new capsule will be commanded by cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, with the two flight engineers being Canadian David Saint-Jacques and Anne McClain, both at their first flight into space. That target date falls less than eight weeks after the October 11 launch anomaly, which forced the Soyuz spacecraft carrying NASA astronaut Nick Hague and cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin to make an emergency landing on the steppes of Kazakhstan.

The accident occurred on the morning of 11 October, when the "Soyuz-FG" with two astronauts on Board was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome.

The astronaut's capsule landed about 15 miles outside the city of Zhezqazghan in central Kazakhstan.

After investigating the incident, Russia's space agency, Roscosmos, determined that one of the rocket's boosters failed and remained stuck to the main rocket body instead of peeling off.

Violations of traffic laws were blamed for almost 90 percent of accidents that caused deaths or injuries that year. The Gansu provincial authorities demanded an examination of unsafe sections of expressways across the province.

The agency says one of the 4 boosters failed to detach normally right after liftoff due to a faulty sensor.

"Roskosmos" published video shot with the onboard camera of the carrier rocket "Soyuz-FG", the rocket had an accident during launch to the ISS.

Nearly immediately after reports came in that the October 11th Soyuz rocket launch had gone haywire, outlets were reporting that the problem happened during "staging", a process in which the rocket detaches spent boosters.

According to the Russian defense minister, the rocket, Soyuz-2.1B was launched successfully, which carried a Russian military satellite. Boeing and SpaceX are now working on Soyuz alternatives, but their spacecraft will not be ready for test flights until 2019.
