Trump threatens to 'close border' over Central America caravan
The president's tweets come after more than 2,000 Honduran migrants hoping to come to the USA resumed their travel northward Wednesday even hours after Trump warned "anybody entering the United States illegally will be arrested and detained" in a tweet.
President Donald Trump threatened to use the military to close the border with Mexico in an attempt to block a migrant caravan from trying to enter the U.S.
Mr Trump had earlier this week threatened to withhold aid to the region as a caravan with several thousand Honduran migrants travelled through Guatemala to Mexico in the hope of crossing into the United States to escape violence and poverty.
Even by those standards his Thursday morning tweet storm - coming less than three weeks from midterm legislative elections where the Democrats may take the lower house from Trump's Republicans - was especially fierce.
More Honduran migrants tried to join a caravan of several thousand trekking through Guatemala on Wednesday, defying calls by authorities not to make the journey. Dwindling in numbers along the way, the caravan totalled around 150 migrants by the time it reached Tijuana, at the USA border.

Fed risks Trump's fury over rate increases
USA stock prices recovered some earlier losses but were still down for the day following the minutes. But Trump in the past week has called the Fed "crazy", "loco", "ridiculous", and "too cute".
Trump has portrayed the caravan of migrants, which includes many families traveling with children and fleeing poverty or gang violence, as a threat to the United States.
It's unclear how he intends to close the entire US-Mexico border and he already earlier this year called up some military units to do border security.
In morning tweets, Trump repeated vows to halt US aid to Central American countries that do not disband the caravan and issued a fresh threat to the Mexican government, which said Wednesday that it would treat those in the caravan no differently than it does other migrants. There are now United States troops deployed on the frontier with Mexico, with National Guard members from Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California working on border security.
"The assault on our country at our Southern Border, including the Criminal elements and DRUGS pouring in, is far more important to me, as President, than Trade or the USMCA", he tweeted, referring to a trade agreement between the US, Mexico and Canada. "All Democrats fault for weak laws!" "Hopefully Mexico will stop this onslaught at their Northern Border". He also claimed that the caravan included criminals.
